Here comes summer

Last night I knew summer was here. How do I know this? Because of what we found in our backyard, while learning how to use the sling shots that Daddy brought back for the boys. Yes I did say sling shots and I will post more on that subject later. But I promised the boys I would show you all what we found for the first time this year. The video doesn't really get a close up of the fun little creatures, and being that I shot on my phone in low light it gets a bit blurry. But I think you will get a kick out of seeing excited little faces. So drum roll please......

Well here we are, it's the time of year children long for...summer. Summer is when you play outside until the sun finally fades in the West (which is way past their normal bedtime). It seems sprinklers let water run for the single purpose of being played in, the pools are a lively place to splash and play. Grills can be smelled in every neighborhood. Most mark the beginning of summer by the holiday weekend called Memorial Day. This is just a long weekend for most. We plan cookouts, pools open, some take quick trips. But the word memorial has me wanting to make sure that I take this day not just to kick off our summer but to teach my children how blessed we are to live in America. Here we have the freedom to live, learn, and most important to worship. We have friends and family who have served our country and who are serving as we speak. I hope to teach my children that this is a service we should never take lightly. If the day comes that one or all of my children decide that they would like to serve our community or country I will be proud.

I just want to say thank you to the men and women who go to work daily risking their lives to keep me and my family safe.
